The City of Edinburgh Council is recruiting a Greenspace Technical Officer to take forward Volunteer and Community Growing programmes. This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented and driven individual to join our small but growing dedicated and passionate Parks and Openspace Development Team who are focused on improving our parks and open spaces for both people and nature.

The successful candidates will play an important role in shaping the future of the City's parks and open spaces and will be instrumental in realising the ambitions of the citizens of Edinburgh through the delivery of our 'Edinburgh 2050 Thriving Greenspaces' vision and strategy.

This role will take a lead in supporting the public, Friends of Parks groups and other community groups to engage with environmental volunteering and community food growing in the city. This includes:

• Delivering the new Right to Grow policy
• Setting up and administering community greenspace and food growing grant programmes
• Working with volunteers to roll out our new Volunteer Action Plan
• Supporting community led In Bloom schemes around the city

You will work closely with our on-the-ground ranger service, and with colleagues across departments, partners and communities to deliver these projects, and will need to navigate local authority processes such as procurement and committee reporting.

We're looking for someone who can work collaboratively, both internally and externally, to support community groups and deliver projects, communications and educational materials. You will need experience in the greenspaces sector, along with project management skills and experience developing processes and procedures. A track record delivering programmes focused on community growing and/or nature conservation is essential, as is experience developing communications and working directly with volunteers to support community participation.

You will need drive, energy and focus to manage your workloads while working within tight timelines. Some evening and weekend working is required for community engagement, and overnight travel may be required occasionally.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range. Happy to talk flexible working.
