Firrhill High School serves the area of South West Edinburgh. In partnership with our five associated primary schools Bonaly, Colinton, Pentland, Longstone and Oxgangs, we strive to provide learning opportunities of the highest quality. Our school values are founded on respect for self and others, tolerance and support.

We are one of the largest schools in Edinburgh with a roll of 1300 pupils and 130 staff. This provides us with the opportunity to offer a wide range of curricular, interdisciplinary and extracurricular activities that meet the needs of all of our pupils. We also provide opportunities for personal achievement and support pupils to develop skills for learning, work and life.

We are looking to recruit teachers to join our dedicated staff who will be ambitious for all our pupils and are committed to supporting our young people to develop to their fullest potential.

Modern Studies is a hugely popular subject at Firrhill with very high levels of attainment. Having grown in popularity very quickly, Modern Studies is now a well-established and very successful part of the curriculum. In addition to being part of our core curriculum, RMPS is offered at examination level and is a subject where we want to grow interest and further increase the uptake as an elective subject beyond the BGE.

Characterised by high-quality teaching and a focus on pedagogy that engages pupils through a wide range of high-impact approaches, we are looking for an innovative and hard-working colleague to join this highly successful faculty.

All staff benefit from a well-structured and responsive Professional Learning programme where staff are encouraged to both develop their own practice and to actively share their expertise with colleagues. We place a particular emphasis on developing leadership capacity at all levels. Firrhill is a Gold Rights Respecting School and we place children's rights at the centre of our practice. This contributes significantly to our school ethos of inclusion, diversity, tolerance and friendship where excellence for all and excellence by all is our constant ambition.

The work of the school is supported by an active Parent Council and Parent Teacher Association.
