Firrhill High School serves the area of South West Edinburgh. In partnership with our five associated primary schools Bonaly, Colinton, Longstone, Oxgangs and Pentland, we strive to "Provide learning opportunities of the highest quality." Our school values are founded on respect for self and others, tolerance and support. We are one of the largest schools in Edinburgh with a roll of 1300 pupils and 130 staff. This provides us with the opportunity to provide a wide range of curricular, interdisciplinary and extracurricular activities that meet the needs of all of our pupils.
We also provide opportunities for personal achievement and support pupils to develop skills for learning, work and life. We are looking to recruit teachers to join our dedicated staff who will be ambitious for all our pupils and are committed to supporting our young people to develop to their fullest potential. All staff benefit from a well-structured and responsive Professional Learning programme where staff are encouraged to both develop their own practice and to actively share their expertise with colleagues. We place a particular emphasis on developing leadership capacity at all levels.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
