Overview

Pupil Support Officer - fixed term until 26/06/2026

Ferryhill Primary School

Salary £29,173-£33,287 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional)

Hours: 30.75 per week, 39 weeks sessional

Working pattern for the position is Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 4:00pm, Friday 8.30am to 12.30pm.

Broughton Cluster - Broughton Learning Community is a diverse community situated in the North-West of Edinburgh. We work closely as a cluster developing joint initiatives. We have strong transition links, enhanced by the cluster counsellors working with pupils both in the primary and high school settings.

Schools in Learning Community: Broughton High School, Granton Primary, Ferryhill Primary, Stockbridge Primary, Flora Stevenson’s Primary.

Role and responsibilities

We are recruiting a Pupil Support Officer to work across the Broughton cluster with other School based PSOs. The successful candidate will work with children with a range of needs. Training and support will be provided as part of induction and ongoing professional development in the service. The post will involve building trusting relationships with children and their families and working to maximise attendance across the cluster.

Pre-employment checks and conditions

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
