Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Forensic Mortuary Technician to join our Councils Forensic Services team. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high quality mortuary and forensic provision supporting the work of pathologists and COPFS. You will be responsible for the care and management of the deceased, assisting with post-mortem examinations and ensuring that the mortuary standards as defined by Scottish Government are met. You will work closely with Police, COPFS, Pathologists and Funeral directors maintaining the dignity of the deceased and sensitivity towards the bereaved at all times.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience of working in a mortuary, healthcare or related environment
  • Knowledge of mortuary standards document and good practice, health and safety and infection control
  • The ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality and accuracy in all circumstances
  • A caring and respectful approach when dealing with the deceased and the bereaved
  • Physical capability to carry out manual handling duties
  • Understanding that on call and out of hours will be required
  • A diploma (level 3 or above) in Anatomical Pathology Technology (or willingness to work towards) is essential
