An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Housing Officer position in The City of Edinburgh Council's Temporary Accommodation Service, within Housing and Homelessness. Improving the quality of life of our customers is our top priority. Our Housing Officers provide a range of housing management services, information, assessment and advice services to our tenants, homeless people and other customers, including residents, neighbours of our homes and people seeking housing advice.
The role also includes the co-ordination of other housing and support services to support our customers and ensure the effective delivery of housing services and services for homeless people. You will fulfil the Council's duties by working to legislative and good practice requirements and in collaboration with many other statutory services and partner organisations. The role requires you to display resilience daily and the ability to take ownership and responsibility of applicable tasks, keeping up to date with current legislation and legislative changes.
You will put your customers first, respect and understand their concerns and needs when delivering services to them and inspire confidence and respect in your customers for you and the service you work for. You will be sensitive and responsive to the needs of all your customers, many of whom may experience significant challenges in their lives.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
