Depute Head Teacher
Queensferry Primary School
Salary: £71,181 – £71,181
Hours: 35 per week
We are looking for an enthusiastic, positive and highly skilled Depute Head Teacher to join our Queensferry Team. We are a growing school with a current role of 678 including our Nursery which has a role of around 134. Our community is benefiting from a lot of new housing and, as a result, our role increases throughout the year. We have 5 Nursery Rooms and 20 classes from P1-P7. Around 29% of our learners have Additional Support Needs. We have worked hard as a team to raise attainment for all and ensure that all of our pupils achieve their full potential. We are looking for someone who can support the school community, develop learning and teaching, and inspire learners.
As well as contributing to the positive, inclusive and caring ethos of the school, the initial remit for the successful new Depute Head Teacher will be focused on Second Level. This will include leading strategic improvement across P5 to P7, monitoring pupil achievement, and supporting pastoral care. In addition, the successful candidate will work as part of our Senior Leadership Team on other whole school initiatives. We are looking for someone with an excellent knowledge of pedagogy, self-evaluation and leading strategic change.

The role of a Depute Head Teacher is to assist and, where necessary, to deputise for the Head Teacher as required. The role of the Head Teacher is, within the resources available, to conduct the affairs of the school to the benefit of the pupils and the community it serves, through pursuing objectives and implementing policies set by the City of Edinburgh Council under the overall direction of the Head of Education.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
