Job Description Children, Education & Justice Services Depute Head Teacher Gracemount Primary School Salary £68,892 (subject to job sizing) Hours: 35 per week An exciting opportunity has arisen at Gracemount Primary, for a DHT to join our school leadership team of Head Teacher, 2 DHT’s, PT and Business Manager. We are looking for an excellent and enthusiastic leader who is interested in furthering their career development. The successful candidate will have a key role within our Senior Management Team alongside our Pupil Wellbeing Team and SFL Teachers. They will be someone capable of leading the positive relationships with our pupils, parents and staff. We believe that better relationships enable better learning and this will produce better behaviour in school. Gracemount has a highly committed and highly motivated staff who work effectively to meet the needs in our school. Staff are keen to embrace the debate around equity and closing the gap and we are building long-term sustainable supports to meet the needs of our pupils. Gracemount Primary School is a non-denominational school built in 1960, which serves the area of southeast Edinburgh. The school serves a catchment area, which has a broad social mix, 2/3’s of our children live in SIMD 1 and 2. We are keen to have high expectations of all, build resilience and working hard to remove barriers to learning. The school roll is 500. We have 17 classes, 2 Pupil Support Officers and a team of Pupil Support Assistants working in the school who are timetabled to meet the needs of specific children. Our new DHT will lead the Second Level (P5, 6 & 7), digital learning, including pupil tracking, and co-ordinate Additional Support for Learning . The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner who has experience of leading and managing a team and leading whole school learning and teaching. They will have played a lead role in whole school improvement, raising attainment and have good communication, data literacy and organisational skills. Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
