As a Facilities Technician with the City of Edinburgh Council, you'll be a key member of our Facilities Management team. You'll deliver a vital janitorial service across our estate to ensure our properties are safe places to work or learn in. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out day-to-day janitorial and DIY operations across one or more buildings, ranging from small repairs and general maintenance to reactive cleaning, supporting moves and conducting basic security functions.
  • Providing an efficient and effective facilities technician service in accordance with the Service Level Agreement, CEC policy and any prevailing general standards.
  • Performing caretaker duties on a mobile basis across a number of buildings, including:
    • Equipment and furniture maintenance
    • Building maintenance and services
    • Grounds maintenance
    • Undertaking minor maintenance and repairs to equipment in accordance with good practice and procedures
    • General porterage duties, including moving furniture for the setting up of rooms and halls for events, performances, exams, and meetings.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required.
