Salary: £26,205 - £26,525 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional). Hours: 18 per week, 38 weeks sessional. Working pattern: Monday - Thursday 10am - 2pm, Friday 9am - 11am.
As a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council, you will be a key member of the Facilities Management team, delivering a cleaning service across our estate to ensure properties are safe and clean places to work or learn in.

Responsibilities
- Empty litter and recycling bins.
- Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings within a group of buildings.
- Clean all sanitary areas, toilets and showers and replenish washroom consumables.
- Provide emergency and reactive cleaning as required (e.g., graffiti removal, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages).
- Care for and maintain equipment used for cleaning tasks.
- Carry out other tasks related to the role and support cleaning tasks across other buildings as required.
- Meet cleaning specification requirements and cooperate with performance measurement to meet standards.
Keyholding and Security
Facilities Management has overall responsibility for keyholding to enable opening and closing of serviced buildings. The role may require keyholding duties, such as operating security alarm systems, securing premises on closing, and ensuring doors and windows are safely secured.
Requirements and Checks
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.
If an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required.
An unconditional offer and commencement are subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks.
