Water Laborer Driver
The City of East Peoria is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Water Laborer/Driver at its Public Works facility.
This union position plays a vital role in maintaining and rehabilitating the City's water distribution system. Candidates must possess a valid Class D or higher Water Operator License at the time of hire. Applicants are expected to have extensive knowledge of the laws and regulations governing the management of safe drinking water.
Primary Responsibilities
- Installing new sections of water mains
- Locating and repairing leaks or breaks in piping
- Addressing issues related to water and sewer service calls
- Investigating customer concerns, gathering billing survey information, performing meter readings, and initiating or terminating water and sewer services
- Other service duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must reside within twenty-five (25) miles of the East Peoria corporate limits
- Valid Class B CDL with air brake endorsement at time of application
- Successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening, and comprehensive background check
- Class D Water License, preferred
Salary and Benefits
This is a full-time non-exempt position with starting pay rate of $34.08 per hour. Per union contract, starting rate is $7.00/hour below base. After one year of service, pay increases to $5.00/hour below base, and after two years to $3.00/hour below base. Full base is achieved after 3 years of service.
Progression placement may be adjusted at the time of hire or at the completion of probationary period based on the candidate’s experience and/or commensurate related experience, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
