Our Support Workers play a key role in ensuring that service users return to living in their own homes by supporting and re‑enabling them during their short stay at Positive Step.

Responsibilities

  • Support service users with daily living needs including personal care, nutrition, social and emotional care as per individual care plans.
  • Facilitate stimulation and promote independence.
  • Support individuals in accessing new activities or opportunities and leisure interests while staying on the unit.
  • Implement and review person‑centred support plans and therapy plans in accordance with the unit’s good practice guide for care planning.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of individual care by reviewing referral documentation, care plans and the unit’s communications system, and attending daily staff handovers.
  • Write clear, factual, accurate reports of individual care and monitoring forms; report any area of concern immediately to the duty manager.
  • Ensure dignity and choice in all care and discussions, conducting them privately.
  • Assist with domestic duties such as basic cleaning, laundry, and putting away clothing, bedding and towels.
  • Adhere to health and safety procedures, ensuring awareness of staff, service users and visitors.

Working Hours

The position operates on a rotating shift pattern covering seven days a week, including weekends and bank holidays, with shifts between 07:00 and 22:00. Flexibility is essential.

Qualifications

  • Enhanced Level DBS Disclosure.
  • English fluency – ability to converse easily with customers and provide accurate spoken English guidance.
