The Partnership & Engagement Team are looking for 8 part-time Youth Engagement Workers. The primary focus of the role is to deliver a youth offer across the city which will ensure children and young people are engaged in positive activities in their communities, and support the voluntary, community and faith sector groups.
As an Engagement Worker, you will play a pivotal role in providing a city-wide positive youth provision driven by the active participation of young people and their views and needs. The role involves being a point of contact for children, young people and families providing accurate information, advice, and guidance. It also provides mechanisms for young people to have a voice in the decision-making processes with a particular focus on engaging young people through high-quality outreach and detached work programs, targeting hot spot areas.
The post holder will be required to travel across Doncaster in various community venues including the MyPlace Youth Hub buildings. Ultimately, the successful candidate will be responsible for youth and engagement work with children and young people up to 19 years (or 25 years SEND) and establishing strong effective working relationships with services involved with children and young people.
In addition, the postholder will be responsible for providing a diverse range of programmes and activities for young people and supporting other community groups. The successful candidate must have experience of working with and engaging young people in activities. Outstanding interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication are essential.
The ability to be flexible in approach to dealing with difficult situations, working with sensitive and confidential information, and working well under pressure is essential. As an Engagement Worker, you will need to be flexible with your working hours to meet the demands of the service; this will predominantly be evening sessions and occasional weekend work may be required.
