Working for the City of Doncaster Council as an Engineer with the Highway Design Team could be perfect for you.

Duties include:

  • The main role of the post is undertaking the design procurement and supervision of an extensive range of highway schemes, which vary from carriageway resurfacing, active travel schemes, public realm and major improvement schemes.
  • Main duties will be but not restricted to:
  • Undertaking or arranging topographical and other surveys
  • Preliminary and detailed design
  • Preparation of Bills of Quantities of Contract Documents
  • Undertake the role of the Designer in accordance with the 2015 CDM Regulations
  • Procurement usually through our in-house service provider or using Framework Contracts
  • Supervision of the work and undertaking measures and valuations

What you will bring to the role:

  • The ideal candidates will be proficient in highway design, including experience in using relevant design guides i.e. DMRB, LTN1/20 and Manual for Streets.
  • They should be confident using industry software such as AutoCAD, and ideally Civil 3D, and able to manage projects from feasibility through detailed design to procurement.
  • The role benefits from experience in procurement activities, including preparing tender documentation, evaluating bids and supporting contract award.
  • On-site involvement is equally important, with the ability to undertake site supervision, and undertake measurements and valuations.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams are essential to delivering high-quality engineering outcomes.
