An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to join the Bridges Team at the Council as Bridge Engineer focusing on Inspections and Routine Maintenance. Supporting the Senior Bridge Engineer you will be key to delivering professional and customer focused Bridge and Highway Structure maintenance schemes and/or the Principal Inspection of Bridges and other Highway Structures across the Borough.

Requirements:

  • Has a sound civil engineering background with extensive knowledge of Bridge and Highway Structure maintenance schemes through feasibility, funding, design and construction stages.
  • Has experience in the Principal Inspection of Bridges and other Highway Structures and reporting of findings in accordance with the ADEPT Bridge Condition Indicators (BCI) system.
  • Ideally certified, or working towards certification, under the LANTRA Bridge Inspector Certification Scheme.
  • Is confident with a positive ‘can do’ approach and good prioritisation skills.
  • Has excellent engagement and communication skills across varying audiences.
  • Is flexible, proactive and self‑motivated.
