The University of Bristol is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Research Technician to join Bristol Medical School’s Diabetes Research Group, based at Southmead Hospital. You will support national and international research studies and trials focused on the causes, prediction and ultimate prevention of type 1 diabetes and other autoimmune conditions. Working as part of a technical team, you will provide essential technical and operational support, ensuring the delivery of high-quality results.

What will you be doing?

  • You will provide day-to-day technical support, primarily engaged in sample processing, measurement of antibodies (using highly specialised techniques) and pancreatic biomarkers and genetic techniques.
  • Your contribution will underpin safe, efficient and compliant laboratory operations.

You should apply if:

  • You have relevant GCSEs or equivalent with general laboratory experience; however, full training in the necessary techniques will be given.
  • You have excellent organisational skills, with the ability to deal with and prioritise a range of ongoing tasks at the same time, and to be able to cope under pressure.
  • You have proven experience of completing tasks to a high level of accuracy, are driven and enthusiastic.
