Bristol SU's Research and Insight Team delivers high‑quality, credible research that helps us understand and improve the student experience at the University of Bristol. We have a growing commission pipeline and influence over university decisions.

What’s the job?

Role: Research and Insight Services Manager

Hours: Full Time – 35 hours per week (flexible, part‑time applicants welcome)

Salary: £37,192 starting salary

Contract: 1‑Year Fixed‑Term

Closing date: Thursday 2 July 2026, 12pm

Responsibilities and Expectations

You’ll be responsible for managing the day‑to‑day running of research projects from brief to output, ensuring timely delivery to a high standard and genuine impact. You’ll manage internal insight projects that feed directly into SU strategy and externally commissioned work for university departments and organisations across the sector.

Income generation is also a key part. You’ll actively develop relationships with potential clients, identify opportunities for commissioned work, and play a central role in growing our external pipeline. You’ll be confident having conversations with prospective clients, scoping projects and translating research expertise into proposals that win work.

You’ll collaborate with Digital and Marketing teams to build the online presence of the Research and Insight Team, developing innovative ways to share findings. You will also support teams in building data literacy across SU, enabling research usage in planning.

The ideal candidate is a skilled researcher comfortable in client conversations and methodology discussions, with entrepreneurial instinct and project‑management discipline. You’ll understand research as a driver of real change and be motivated by seeing your work impact students’ lives.
