This post offers an exciting opportunity for a one-year research placement in respiratory infection. The post would be suited to a Foundation doctor Year 2 (FY2) or Internal Medical Trainee equivalent before starting specialist training (i.e FY2-IMT3). The post will be hosted within the Academic Respiratory Unit at the University of Bristol, with an honorary contract with North Bristol NHS Trust.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead on recruitment to studies in respiratory infection
  • Develop research skills around data analysis and interpretation
  • Attend and present at academic conferences and educational meetings, nationally and internationally
  • Write scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • Contribute to teaching, audit, and quality improvement within the respiratory service

There are no mandatory on-call duties or out-of-hours work associated with the post.

  • Prior experience of working on clinical studies.
  • A track record of publications in leading peer review academic journals in medicine.
