Senior Engineer

b Overview /b p As a Highway Engineer within Bradford Council’s Highways Structures team, you’ll help shape capital highway schemes from feasibility to delivery. You’ll support feasibility studies, public engagement, and the design and procurement of schemes, ensuring compliance with statutory duties and CDM requirements. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to deliver asset improvements that transform the district, leveraging best practices and risk-informed decisions. This role offers impact across demolitions, development control, and abnormal loads verifications, with opportunities to mentor juniors and lead technical work. /p b Responsibilities /b ul li Develop feasibility proposals for future highway asset schemes from concept to detailed design /li li Provide technical guidance to ensure compliant and effective designs /li li Produce contract specifications and Bills of Quantities for civil works /li li Assist in procurement of specialist services and contractors, coordinating with Procurement /li li Prepare technical programmes with milestones for the area of responsibility /li li Contribute to budget and programme reporting with Project Manager/Senior Engineer /li li Act as Designer to ensure compliance with Construction (Design Management) Regulations /li li Plan and support communication/consultation activities for project delivery /li li Provide leadership to junior staff and ensure quality support for project delivery /li li Demonstrate competence in requisite technical computer software /li /ul b Key requirements /b ul li leadership of junior staff /li li clear communication and stakeholder engagement /li li collaboration with cross-functional teams /li li feasibility studies /li li highways design and development guidance /li li Contract specifications and Bills of Quantities /li /ul
