IT Security Manager in London

City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council is looking for an experienced and motivated IT Security Manager to lead our cyber security function at a critical and exciting time. This is a senior leadership role where you will shape how we protect vital public services, sensitive data, and thousands of users across the district. What you will be doing

• Lead and develop a high‐performing IT Security team.
• Take ownership of cyber and information security strategy, policies, and standards.
• Lead cyber incident response, including investigations and coordination with external agencies.
• Manage vulnerability assessments, cyber risk registers, and mitigation plans.
• Act as the trusted security adviser across the Council.
• Deliver security guidance, awareness, and training.
• Represent the Council in regional and national security forums.
• Keep ahead of emerging threats, risks, and best practice.
• Help shape the future of digital and cyber security across the organisation.

Who we are looking for

You will be someone who:

• Has strong experience in IT or cyber security at a senior level.
• Is confident leading people, priorities, and complex workloads.
• Can communicate clearly with technical teams, managers, and senior leaders.
• Understands risk, governance, and compliance (e.g. GDPR, FOI, information security).
• Enjoys solving problems, improving services, and supporting others.
• Brings a calm, professional approach to incidents and pressure situations.
