This position is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the wastewater collection and water distribution system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Repair, maintenance, replacement, installation, and inspection of sanitary and storm sewer pump stations, water booster pump stations, water towers, water reservoirs, storm holding ponds, and levees.
- Monitors and troubleshoots control cabinets, the SCADA system, and electrical systems.
- Maintenance of grounds, holding ponds, canals, and levees; mowing, pruning and trimming, and application of pesticide.
- Maintenance of fences.
- Maintenance of sprinkler systems.
- Participates in snow removal operations.
- Responds to after‑hours emergencies.
- On call weekends and holidays.
- Performs related duties.

- Pump maintenance and repair principles.
- Electrical system maintenance and repair principles.
- Grounds and facilities maintenance principles.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- One to three years of experience in related work.
- Valid commercial driver’s license issued by the State of South Dakota (Class B with Airbrakes and N‑Tanker endorsement) within six months of employment.
- Class I Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection Operation Certificate, or ability to obtain one within eighteen months of employment.
Residency
All new hires must reside within 40 miles of city limits unless special approval of the City Manager is obtained.
