This position is responsible for performing the custodial maintenance of the municipal airport, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for visitors and staff throughout the day.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform custodial cleaning of the airport building, including restrooms, vending areas, and common spaces.
  • Dust, polish, and wipe furniture, fixtures, windows, and mirrors.
  • Clean and disinfect water fountains, tables, and other high-touch surfaces.
  • Change light bulbs and maintain lighting fixtures.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, strip, clean, wax, and buff floors.
  • Empty and clean trash receptacles, remove spills and broken glass.
  • Secure the building by locking windows and doors.
  • Perform building and grounds maintenance duties and report needs to the supervisor.
  • Conduct airfield inspections to ensure compliance with federal regulations and inspect navigational aids, lighting, signage, and runway conditions.
  • Participate in snow and ice control duties in accordance with FAA‑approved plans.
  • Monitor and report any security or safety incidents, including trespassing or theft.

Physical Demands

The job requires intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, and crouching, lifting light and heavy objects, climbing ladders, and exposure to noise, dust, and fumes. Protective equipment such as masks, goggles, and gloves may be required.
