The predicted salary is between 38 - 39 £ per hour.

Location: Covent Garden, London/Online

Salary: £38.72 per hour, inclusive of pro rata holiday entitlement and preparation time

Hours of Work: Variable

Are you a dynamic and creative tutor with a passion for writing fiction? Do you have practical knowledge of the horror genre? Then join us to develop and teach up to three fiction courses starting between February and April 2026:

  • HW353 Starting your novel – Mondays, 20 April — 13 July, 17:30 – 19:30
  • HW438 Creative writing: getting started – Saturday, 21 February, 10:30 – 16:30 (1 session)
  • HW635 Writing horror – Tuesdays, 17 February — 24 March, 19:00 – 21:00

We are particularly interested in hearing from those with a strong publication profile in fiction (novels and/or short stories). City Lit is London's largest provider of learning for adults, inspiring over 30,000 students a year and offering more than 5,000 courses, online and face-to-face.

You’ll be a key contributor to our thriving Creative Writing department, where our renowned high-quality courses focus on inspiring students to explore and develop their writing. You will particularly attract our interest if these cover:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of the craft of writing fiction.
  • Recent, proven industry experience as a published fiction writer.
  • Experience of teaching adults in the creative writing space.
  • Experience of online teaching and learning.
