CHoICE Facilities Services are seeking several passionate, hardworking and reliable individuals to join our team and fulfil the role of Domestic Assistant, working at South Tyneside Hospital. Working hours span from 7am to 10pm, seven days a week. We are seeking a flexible domestic assistant committed to maintaining exceptional cleanliness standards across the site. This role demands adaptability, as shift patterns may change weekly.
As a Domestic Assistant you would be responsible for maintaining an acceptable standard of cleanliness in the allocated areas using the correct cleaning methods, frequencies, materials and equipment, cleaning to the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness 2021. Cleaning is carried out in wards and departments throughout the organisation.
Main duties of the job:
- Carry out all cleaning assigned, making full use of guidance and training given, using checklists provided.
- Ensure all necessary equipment/machinery is fit for purpose before use and clean and correctly store it after use.
- Use all materials and consumables in accordance with laid down practices.
- Collection, segregation and disposal of waste materials, replacement of liners, in accordance with policies.
- Packing, sorting, delivering and collection of linen.
- Undertake manual and mechanical cleaning activities in accordance with the cleaning schedule.
- Ensure that all cleaning schedules are completed and checked on a daily basis.
- Refilling of all dispensers including soap, hand towels, toilet rolls and all paper rolls.
- Cleaning in close proximity to patients including beds, windows, curtain rails, window ledges, tables and lockers.
- Work safely at all times giving due consideration to themselves and others.
- Use the appropriate work equipment and PPE provided, reporting any maintenance, safety deficiencies and incidents to a member of the supervisory team.
- Maintain cleanliness of entrances, work areas and grounds as necessary.
