What is Podiatry?
Podiatrists provide; advice, care, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a range of problems affecting the lower limb. Keeping mobile and retaining independence affects the quality of people\’s lives. Podiatrists play a pivotal part in reducing the risk of amputation, infection, pain, deformity and hospital admissions.
Podiatrists work in both the NHS and independent sector, with opportunities to work in a range of environments and specialisms including wound care, diabetes, rheumatology, Musculo‑skeletal and podiatric surgery. Podiatrists work with all members of the multi‑disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job

The successful candidate would be employed full‑time at agenda for change band 3 and supported throughout their training by an established podiatry team.
Typically, apprentices attend university 2‑3 days a week during term time, with workplace learning for their remaining hours.
Degree apprenticeship duration is 2‑4 years dependent on entry level. On successful completion of the Podiatry degree individuals will progress to a band 5 role.
Applicants must have Maths & English GCSE and the equivalent of 3 \’A\’ levels at BBB grade or higher.
We welcome applicants who are sitting their A‑levels in 2026, as long as their predicted grades are BBB or higher.
Main duties of the job
- To study towards a BSc hons degree in Podiatry
- To facilitate and assist the Podiatrist in the day‑to‑day running and delivery of Podiatry services.
- To maintain accurate clinical records
- To provide Footcare to service users in clinics, residential homes and home visits.
- To participate in clinical audit.

Qualifications
- GCSE Math\’s and English grade C/4 or above or equivalent. Eg Functional skills level 2
- AND one of: BBB at A Level, Merit at T level, DDM in BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma, NCFE CACHE Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma, Access to Higher Education Diploma with 45 Level 3 credits, 30 at Distinction and 15 at Merit, NVQ Level 3 Diploma or higher with clinical experience.
Experience
- Experience of working with people.
- Experience of organising and prioritising own workload
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Experience of working in health or social care settings
- Experience of relevant clinical area e.g. older people, children
- Demonstrates understanding of Podiatry profession
- Knowledge and understanding of general responsibilities related to patient information and record keeping
- Awareness of general clinical conditions which may be encountered in area of work
- Demonstrates awareness of limits to knowledge base
- Demonstrates an understanding of accountability
- Awareness of responsibilities regarding health and safety particularly if working without direct supervision
