This role helps people recovering from stroke by delivering specialist physiotherapy, making a real difference to their independence and quality of life. You’ll work as part of a supportive community stroke team, helping patients and families manage recovery at home and in local settings. Your work will focus on tailored rehabilitation, promoting confidence, and supporting people to regain function and wellbeing. You’ll also share your expertise with colleagues and help shape a service that meets changing needs.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan and deliver specialist physiotherapy for people with complex stroke needs
- Manage and prioritise a varied caseload, ensuring timely and appropriate care
- Work closely with patients, families and other professionals to set shared goals
- Provide advice, training and support to colleagues and learners
- Contribute to service improvement, audits and evidence-based practice
Qualifications & Skills
- A qualified physiotherapist with current Health and Care Professions Council registration
- Experience working with adults in a rehabilitation or community setting
- Confidence managing complex cases and making clinical decisions
- Strong communication skills, with empathy for patients and families
- Willingness to support others through supervision, teaching and teamwork
- Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy
- Post Graduate Diploma in a relevant specialist area or professional qualification at Degree level supplemented by specialist accredited training and experience in specialist fields equivalent to postgraduate diploma level
Knowledge
- Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation and guidance relevant to clinical and service area
- Full understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area
- Specialist understanding of relevant clinical practice, standards and protocols within identified clinical area
- Evidence of undertaking audits/surveys
- Basic IT skills
- Member of specialist interest group/network, locally or regionally
- Develop to advanced/expert understanding of relevant clinical practice, standards and protocols within identified clinical area
Experience
- Evidence of sound post-registration professional practice
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area at a specialist level of care
- Experience of case load management within specialist service area
- Evidence of promoting/supporting active patient/relative involvement/participation
- Experience of complex case load management within specialist service area
