Would you be interested in supporting the delivery of T-Levels in Animal Care and Management? We are currently looking for Marking Examiners to join us in the delivery of Summer 2026 assessment series and beyond for the Animal Management and Behaviour pathway. This Associate role gives you the opportunity to work alongside your current job, to build additional income with competitive daily rates, and to continue to develop your own skills.

As an Examiner you’ll be expected to carry out timely marking, by applying accurate and consistent marks on candidate evidence, in line with the agreed application of the marking grid and tolerances set at standardisation and feedback from Senior Examiner sampling. The question paper and Employer-set Project assess the knowledge and skills learned as part of the core element of the T Level. They are set and marked by City & Guilds and delivered across Summer and Autumn series each year.

The Question Paper Covers Topics Such As:

  • Health and Safety
  • Sustainability
  • Biosecurity
  • Supply Chain
  • Learning theories
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Animal health

The Employer-set Project consists of several tasks linked to an employer-set brief that changes each series:

  • Research Report
  • Project plan
  • Presentation
  • Evaluation

Key Timelines: Examiners must be available for the below schedule to be considered for the Summer 2026 marking series:

  • Training dates: ESP 27/03/2026 or 30/04/2026
  • Core paper 2: 14/05/2026 or 05/06/2026
  • Standardisation date: ESP: 20/05/2026
  • Core paper 2: 22/06/2026
  • Marking window: ESP: 21/05/2026 - 01/07/2026
  • Core paper 2: 23/06/2026 – 14/07/2026

All Marking Examiners must attend marker training, as well as a standardisation meeting (typically 1-day remote). Quick turnaround periods apply during marking. A Marker report will be required to summarise trends observed during the marking activity.

Application process:

  • Submit your CV
  • Complete the application form

When applying, please refer to the role profile for the responsibilities and expectations of the Examiner role and ensure you read the person specification carefully and map your application to show how you meet the requirements. Applications that do not demonstrate this may be declined or delayed. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Successful applicants may be asked to complete a short task, attend a telephone interview, and/or attend training as part of the second stage of recruitment.

We believe that diversity and inclusion strengthen and enriches us, and that it is the responsibility of everyone at the City & Guilds Group to drive this value.
