About the Role
You’ll work side‑by‑side with a less experienced gardener, sharing responsibility for the upkeep and enhancement of quality gardens. This isn’t a managerial role; it’s a collaboration in planning, executing and delivering excellent horticultural services.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with your gardening assistant to plan and carry out all gardening tasks: planting, pruning, lawn care, seasonal displays, pest/disease management and soft landscaping.
- Act as the main onsite contact, liaising with clients, suppliers, and contractors with your partner.
- Mentor and coach your assistant in horticultural skills and safe working practices.
- Oversee use and maintenance of tools, machinery, green waste disposal and PPE compliance.
- Maintain Health & Safety standards.
- Keep accurate records (if required): planting inventories, schedules, job sheets and client communications.
- Model professionalism, punctuality, reliability, exemplary workmanship, excellent customer service.
- Swiftly report any issues or hazards affecting operations or safety.
Person Specification
- 24 years in a gardener role where you have either had senior or supervisory experience within it.
- RHS Level 2/3, NVQ3 in Amenity Horticulture or equivalent desirable but not essential.
- PA1/PA6 or CS30/31 certifications would be advantageous.
- Proven ability to guide and develop others.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
