Founded in 2003, we are a privately owned Construction, Refurbishment and Maintenance main contractor with offices across Scotland and England. Headquartered in Paisley, the company has consolidated its position as a major contributor to the construction industry, employing over 200 staff across eight fully integrated divisions. The Role
The position of accounts assistant is a key role within the finance department. The role will support the wider business functions and will contribute to process improvements, and work in a supportive and collaborative environment. As accounts assistant, you will play a pivotal role in the business financial operations. You will support the monthly management accounts process, providing variance analysis, performing balance sheet reconciliations. The role will also encompass the processing of our weekly payroll.
Responsibilities
- Support preparation of monthly management accounts
- Support the year‑end audit process
- Support and reconcile balance sheet accounts including Bank, Supplier & Subcontractor Ledgers
- Provide transactional processing support through busy periods & holidays
- Support the processing of the weekly payroll cycle for employees, ensuring timely and accurate payments
- Respond to payroll‑related queries from employees and stakeholders in a professional and timely manner, providing accurate advice and solutions
- Ad hoc financial reporting and analysis as required
- Provide administrative support to the wider finance team as required
- Promote and support company policy and procedures
Skills/Experiences
- Part‑Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent)
- Previous experience in an accounting role, ideally within construction (CIS) or a similar sector
- Good organisational time management and good attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using accounting software
