This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the physical development of Manchester City Academy players, leading physical performance support for our 16 and under age groups. Based in Manchester on a permanent contract, you will help create individualised, evidence-informed development plans that support young players to progress, prepare and thrive within an elite Academy environment.

As Youth Development Physical Performance Coach, you will lead the planning, delivery and review of physical development support for our youth players. You will use objective profiling to shape clear physical priorities and individualised training plans, helping each player build the foundations needed for future performance.

You will work closely with age group coaches and the wider multidisciplinary team to design and deliver on-pitch and off-pitch physical development support. This will include team-based training sessions, evidence-informed strength and conditioning programmes, workload planning, and support for return to play and longer-term rehabilitation in partnership with physiotherapy colleagues.

Alongside delivery, you will help bring the Academy Physical Performance strategy to life through high-quality practice, collaboration and education. You will build effective relationships with players, parents, coaches and practitioners, while role‑modelling the standards and behaviours expected across Manchester City Academy.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience delivering physical performance support to teams and individuals in a performance sport environment.
  • Experience planning, delivering and reviewing evidence‑informed strength and conditioning programmes for youth or academy athletes.
  • Understanding of growth, maturation and their influence on physical development and injury risk.
  • Relevant undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in a related field.
  • UKSCA accreditation or equivalent, with current FA safeguarding and emergency aid certifications.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with coaches, physiotherapists, operations colleagues, player support teams, players and parents.
