Based in Manchester, this permanent full‑time role plays a key part in supporting football decision‑making across City Football Group (CFG) through advanced data engineering and analytics solutions. Working within the Football Intelligence team, you will help build and maintain scalable, reliable and well‑governed data systems that place high‑quality insight into the hands of key football stakeholders and performance practitioners.

Within our Football Intelligence team

We use data science, analytics and technology to support smarter and faster football decision‑making across the CFG network. Collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement are central to how we work, helping to create data‑driven solutions that support performance both on and off the pitch.

The Role

You will play a key role in developing and maintaining robust data engineering solutions that support football operations and strategic decision‑making across City Football Group. Working closely with data scientists, analysts and practitioners, you will help ensure large volumes of football data are accurately ingested, transformed and integrated into reliable systems and user‑facing solutions. Alongside pipeline development and quality assurance, you will support the productionisation of machine learning and statistical models, helping to ensure analytics solutions are scalable, efficient and maintainable. You will contribute to embedding software engineering best practice across analytics delivery, supporting consistent, reliable and high‑quality data products. You will also contribute to improving documentation, workflows and operational processes across the Football Intelligence function, helping to create well‑governed systems that reduce operational risk and support long‑term scalability. Through your technical expertise, collaboration and problem‑solving approach, you will help strengthen the impact of analytics across football operations.

What You’ll Bring

  • Multi‑year experience within data engineering or analytics engineering environments
  • Highly competent in Python, SQL Server and Databricks SQL
  • Experience working with data pipelines, workflow management tools and cloud‑based data platforms in Azure Data Factory, Databricks and Spark
  • Understanding of software engineering best practices including CI/CD and automated testing
  • Ability to manage project timelines and communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Collaborative approach when working across technical and operational teams
