Purpose: We are looking for several Kitchen Assistants to join our catering team, with opportunities available on a 5-month Fixed Term Contract, as well as Full-Time and Part-Time Permanent contracts. The roles will ensure the kitchen and refectory are kept clean and tidy before, during and after service. You will assist the catering team in delivering high standards of food service to players, staff and management.

You Will:

  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene: Perform daily cleaning, sterilising, and deep cleaning of kitchen equipment, surfaces, floors, and storage areas to the highest hygiene standards.
  • Operate and maintain equipment: Handle the dishwasher including start-up, shut-down, cleaning, and reporting faults; ensure correct use and storage of all kitchen tools.
  • Manage waste and chemicals safely: Dispose of waste according to recycling policies and handle cleaning chemicals in line with C.O.S.H.H. regulations.
  • Assist with deliveries and food prep: Support on receiving and proper storage of deliveries and help kitchen staff with basic food preparation.
  • Follow health, safety, and hygiene protocols: Adhere to all procedures related to fire, security, health & safety, and food hygiene at all times.

Essential:

  • In-depth practical knowledge of manual and mechanical cleaning machines and procedures
  • Experience of working as a kitchen assistant in a similar catering environment
  • Working towards or hold level 1 food hygiene certificate
  • Working towards or hold level 1 allergy awareness certificate

Desirable:

  • Hold or working towards level 2 food hygiene certificate
  • Working towards or hold level 2 food allergy certificate
  • Relevant qualifications to support essential knowledge requirement
  • Awareness of manual handling techniques
  • Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH)
  • Experience of working in a kitchen assistant in a nutritional based sports catering environment
