This role exists to support the Senior House Parent (SHP) and House Parents (HPs) in fostering a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment within the accommodation. Central to the position is the day-to-day pastoral care of scholars, ensuring their physical, social, and emotional well-being is prioritised at all times. The role also includes key administrative responsibilities related to the accommodation floor and serves as a vital point of contact for communication between scholars, parents, and senior staff, helping to maintain a well-connected and smoothly operated residential community.
Your Impact
1. Provide consistent care and supervision for resident scholars, creating a respectful and trusting environment. Be a supportive presence for those facing the pressures of elite sport, maintain open communication with staff and parents, and help uphold the Accommodation Code of Conduct while addressing welfare concerns sensitively and appropriately.
2. Prioritise safeguarding and well-being, remaining vigilant and compliant with all relevant legislation, and reporting concerns through appropriate channels.
3. Support residential routines and individual development, helping players build independence and stay aligned with their seasonal objectives in a safe, supportive environment.
4. Administration tasks for the accommodation floor:
- Updating the nights spreadsheet, players in residents, Plaques for players who have left, maintaining scrap books
- To record events, incidents and routine activities as required using the appropriate documentation and systems. RA’s
- Portals
- PD planning, support for PL department
5. Medical Administration Duties
- To manage and record stock levels of medical supplies in the Accommodation
- To inform the medical team of any concerns related to residents’ health and when necessary, to escort residents to medical appointments offsite
- To administer First Aid to residents and to record details in the correct way. To administer prescribed medication and OCMs and to record in the correct way
- To be aware and follow all accommodation policies and practices
- Regular reviews of resident allergies and updating relevant staff on any changes
6 .To liaise as necessary with the Senior House Parent and relevant wider academy staff on matters relating to the welfare of boarding players and the management of the facility, producing or contributing to internal pastoral (and other) reports on the players in their charge as appropriate. To participate in regular team meetings regarding the progress of the residents and the general pastoral and welfare issues in the Accommodation
7. To liaise with the CFA Facilities Management team concerning the domestic operation (catering, housekeeping, laundry, maintenance) of the boarding facilities and any damage or repairs that are required
8.Support the PLPS Manager with external house parent provision
What we are looking for
- Experience working with young people in a pastoral, safeguarding, or welfare capacity
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
- Ability to build trusted relationships with young people, parents, and staff
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- IT literate, with the ability to use systems for record-keeping and communication
- Previous experience in a boarding/residential environment
- Knowledge of mental health and emotional well-being support strategies for young people
- First Aid trained
