The Vacancy

Job Purpose

This is a key position responsible for planned and reactive maintenance across multiple site locations.

You will serve as the first point of contact for service and maintenance at your assigned sites.

Your duties include maintaining and repairing refrigeration equipment in customer locations and assisting with HVAC systems containing refrigeration circuits.

The engineering team provides 24-hour service coverage throughout the year, including participation in standby rota procedures.

Key Accountabilities

  • Prioritize maintenance and repair work to meet specified timescales and response times.
  • Identify non-repairable faults promptly and advise the Line Manager with recommendations for replacements.
  • Ensure PPM schedules are completed on time and all paperwork is accurately filled out following procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical and compliance documentation.
  • Participate in out-of-hours standby rota and communicate coverage needs due to holidays or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Be aware of relevant regulations and codes of practice.
  • Order and fit parts or components as per company procedures.
  • Notify the helpdesk of procedural task conditions upon work completion.
  • Report repair, maintenance, and installation issues to GSMs and build good relationships with GSMs.
  • Respond promptly to service requests from the Helpdesk, assessing and carrying out necessary repairs.
  • Conduct surveys and complete reports as required by supervisors or RFMs.
  • Complete all work to high standards efficiently and cost-effectively, complying with health and safety policies.
  • Complete tasks within designated timeframes to the satisfaction of the company and clients.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally, including report writing and record keeping.
  • Attend training courses as needed to keep skills current with technical and business developments.
  • Complete mandatory online training modules.
  • Comply with health and safety legislation and policies at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain quality standards.
  • Represent the company professionally and develop good working relationships with colleagues.
  • Follow reasonable instructions from management.
  • Perform work in a cost-efficient manner.
  • No budgetary accountability is assigned.

  • Represent the company professionally and develop relationships with engineers, supervisors, and managers.
  • Collaborate with other engineers within the region or team.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
  • NVQ/C&G Refrigeration Qualification.
  • Approved training program completion.
  • Refrigerant Handling C&G 2079 or equivalent CITB certificate.
  • Skill Card.
  • Knowledge of electrical, air conditioning, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read technical drawings.
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation and codes of practice.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Teamwork and customer-focused attitude.
  • Self-motivated and professional.
  • Ability to work at heights and use access equipment.
  • Valid full driving license.
  • Availability for out-of-hours work and standby rota participation.
  • Suitable personal toolkit.
