The Vacancy

City has an exciting opportunity for a talented individual who aspires to develop their career in Refrigeration Engineering whilst gaining an apprentice qualification. City is the largest privately-owned facilities management company in Europe and America, partnering with businesses in the UK, Australia, Malaysia, and the US.

Overview

This apprenticeship will help you gain both a technical qualification and invaluable real-world development experience. Studying towards a Level 3 in Refrigeration, you will undertake a blend of college and on-the-job learning. This role operates in a live environment and involves activities and learning that support the service provisions of the City business.

What might a typical day look like?

City follows a block or day-release programme, where you will attend technical college working towards an NVQ Level 3 in Refrigeration, combined with onsite coaching from experienced engineers. Each day presents new challenges as you learn and gain experience in technical and hands-on tasks required to develop into the next generation of engineer in a constantly evolving industry with new technologies.

What will I learn?

You will study towards a Level 3 NVQ in Refrigeration. Additionally, you will gain experience working with refrigeration technologies in both installation and maintenance environments alongside a highly accomplished team of engineers. You will gain experience working on a range of diverse tasks and projects beyond just being an apprentice.

Qualifications and qualities required

Essential requirements:

  • 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including Maths, English, and at least one Science subject.
  • Full driving license.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Helpful and friendly manner.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Physically fit.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
