As a result, we’re recruiting General Maintenance Technicians nationwide to join our high-performing teams and help us deliver exceptional service on a local scale. About the Role:

As a General Maintenance Technician, you’ll carry out a range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks, including building fabric repairs, groundworks, and basic plumbing. You’ll ensure all assigned sites remain safe, compliant, and operational. The role is mobile and will cover a number of sites. We take pride in doing the job right the first time, maintaining high standards in a safe and efficient way.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver scheduled PPM and reactive maintenance within SLAs across allocated sites.
  • Work safely and follow all compliance and Health & Safety guidelines.
  • Build strong relationships with Asda site teams and City colleagues.
  • Accurately update and close jobs using our Mercury platform.
  • Assess and complete service call requests efficiently.
  • Order and collect materials as needed for repair tasks.

Key Tasks:

  • General building fabric maintenance – e.g. Basic Joinery, Painting, Basic plumbing and minor floor repairs (Tiling and Vinyl).
  • Carry out hard landscaping/groundwork tasks: laying slabs, minor brickwork repairs, block paving, kerbs, concreting, tarmac repairs and fencing.
  • HVAC filter cleaning.
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation.
  • Identify issues beyond repair, undertake survey and escalate with recommendations.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to uphold site standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Basic education (GCSEs or equivalent)
  • iPad/PC literate.
  • Ability to perform varied fabric and ground repair tasks to a high standard.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety.

Desirable:

  • NVQ or City & Guilds in a relevant trade.
  • Multi trade background.
  • Groundworks experience- Channel drain replacement, Manhole replacement, Modular paving, Concreting, Tarmac repairs, Fencing.
  • Experience in the FM, retail or public building sectors is highly desirable.
