An exciting opportunity has emerged for a skilled General Maintenance Technician to join our company to work with one of our major UK supermarket clients. This mobile role supports multiple stores through planned visits and responsive maintenance. You’ll complete a wide range of building fabric and housekeeping repairs—including fixing floors, walls, doors, toilets, fitting rooms, basic plumbing and other general upkeep—along with carrying out and assisting minor PPMs to ensure each store stays in good working order. You’ll work closely with store management teams during every planned visit, giving clear updates on progress, next steps, and timelines. A key part of the role is making sure all stores remain safe, compliant, and fully operational, identifying issues early and taking appropriate action to resolve or elevate them. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on variety, takes pride in delivering quality work and knows that great service comes from clear communication and leaving the customer fully satisfied with what’s been done.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive company standards, values and behaviours – represent City professionally, follow all company policies and attend required training to maintain standards.
- Complete minor maintenance and fabric repairs – carry out a range of building fabric and housekeeping tasks such as basic joinery, painting, basic plumbing, minor floor repairs, fixtures and fittings, delivering work safely and to a high standard.
- Deliver planned and reactive maintenance – complete all planned and reactive tasks within agreed timescales and ensure associated documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Respond promptly to helpdesk requests – assess job requirements, complete repairs where possible, and escalate issues outside your scope in a timely manner.
- Maintain tools, equipment and materials – ensure all necessary equipment is available, safe and in good working order to complete assigned tasks.
- Provide clear support and communication across allocated stores – maintain a regular planned visit schedule across all allocated stores (up to 15 locations), building strong working relationships, ensuring store teams are fully informed of visit dates, times and progress updates, and communicating clearly with colleagues and management to support effective decision‑making.
Essential Qualifications / Experience
- NVQ/City multi‑trade experience in FM, retail or public buildings.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong understanding of health and safety.
