Client Services L1

Role Overview

As a Client Services L1, you'll be the first point of contact for internal and external clients using the client’s trading platforms.

This is an entry to mid-level, client-facing role that amalgamates three disciplines: client relationship support, first-line client functionality and some technical support, and application data administration.

You'll handle day-to-day client queries, provide platform support, and carry out controlled user access and application data tasks under supervision, learning the full trade lifecycle from order entry through to clearing and settlement in a fast-paced, SLA-driven environment.

This is first and foremost a client-service role, a genuine desire to help clients matters more than any particular background, and technical skills can be taught.

Key Responsibilities

  • In this role, you will: -
  • Client Relationship & Support
  • Act as a first point of contact for trading platform users, delivering courteous, professional and timely client service by phone, email, MS Teams, Bloomberg or in person.
  • Support the onboarding of new clients and assist with platform adoption, increasing client awareness of added functionality, features, and available services.
  • Provide demonstrations of electronic platforms to end users and encourage clients to provide liquidity and execute trades on screen.
  • Update the CRM with any client visits, feedback, and follow-ups, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
  • Functional and Technical Support
  • Provide first-line support, resolving issues within SLA and escalating to second- or third-line teams where required, ensuring full audit trails are maintained in the service desk tool.
  • Log and track all issues and queries for audit purposes and manage proactive, clear communication with clients through to resolution.
  • Perform daily system and application health checks, monitoring platform status and trade flows throughout the day.
  • Develop a strong understanding of pre- and post-trade workflows, including market data publishing, order entry, trade execution, and STP confirmation.
  • Application Data Support
  • Set up and maintain internal and external user access to Front and Middle Office trading applications across all asset classes, in line with compliance and regulatory processes.
  • Action password resets and standard user administration tasks, configuring user IDs, permissions (tradable or view-only), tiles and sheets across all brands.
  • Support client onboarding, customer-side mappings, instrument setups, and time-sensitive data requests, liaising with all stakeholders internal (e. g. brokers) and external (e. g. vendors).
  • Maintain accurate request notes, approvals and audit evidence, performing basic four-eye checks and data quality validation, and escalating inconsistencies early.
  • General
  • • Be alert to Conduct Risk issues, specifically the risk of harm to client interests, market integrity and/or competition in financial markets.
  • • Keep up to date with current regulations relevant to the platforms and the client base.
  • Contribute to team documentation and knowledge management (Confluence), video guides (Clipchamp), and use approved AI tools to improve quality, reduce manual effort and support controlled delivery.

Skills / Experience Required

  • Personal Attributes
  • Some experience in Financial Markets Operations, Client Services or Technical Support is a plus.
  • Placement year or internship in Investment Banking, Fin Tech or Trading is a plus.
  • Strong client service and communication skills.
  • Proactive, organised and detail oriented.
  • Analytical with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eager to learn and develop within Financial Markets. • Interest in financial markets and trading.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and technologies.
  • Technical Skills
  • MS Office suite.
  • AI experience.
  • Exposure to Bloomberg, SQL, Python, Linux, or FIX Protocol is advantageous but not essential.
