CEF - The UK's Industry Leading Electrical Wholesaler with over 390 branches, has a fantastic opportunity for someone in the industry who is looking for a brighter tomorrow! The Lighting Controls Application Engineer will review large lighting enquiries/projects and select/design the correct control solution, including dimming topologies and architectures.
What we're looking for:
- Understanding of different dimming topologies and architectures such as: standalone sensors, wired LCMs, DALI and DALI 2.
- Proficiency in MS Office & Bluebeam / CAD / Dialux / Relux.
- Hands-on work experience with different wired and wireless control systems in the lighting space.
- The ability to prepare and release 'technical submissions' documentation for projects.
- The ability to present design solutions to internal sales and customers.
- Experience of managing day-to-day enquiries relating to control systems and required controls philosophies.
- An eye for detail and the ability to follow processes and create required documentation.
- Understanding of Zigbee and BLE Mesh technologies.
- Understanding of CIBSE relevant lighting guides (i.e. LG7 / LG10 etc).
Other requirements:
- A can-do attitude with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively and remain professional in circumstances under pressure.
- Ability to work to tight schedules / deadlines.
The role will be predominantly office-based but will require site visits and may involve some overnight stays.

- Build a pipeline of lighting control quotes/designs.
- Great conversion ratio: of Enquiries - designs completed - orders won.
- Deep understanding of key supplier control systems.
- Keep up to date with regulations and legislations related to controls protocols.
