Overview of the Engineering Technical Buyer & Administrator role at City Cruises. The Engineering Technical Buyer & Administrator is part of a dynamic and experienced procurement & engineering teams who operate in several locations around the UK. The primary tasks span portfolio maintenance/development and sourcing of new suppliers, across heavy duty project procurement to ad hoc support for other internal departments and City Cruises affiliated companies. You will also manage the administrative tasks within the Procurement and Engineering Departments. This is a full-time, permanent position paying £40,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve the technical procurement process within the Engineering Department of City Cruises.
- Ensure that agreed processes and procedures are applied to all procurement activities managed by the Engineering Department.
- Provide procurement support to City Cruises regular maintenance and repair activities.
- Provide procurement support for dockings of all City Cruises vessels in each location and with any project activities.
- Manage internal and external correspondence according to notes, drafts or verbal instructions.
- Manage portfolio of suppliers in accordance with principles introduced by Kraljic Matrix model.
- Negotiate quality standards, price reductions and rebates.
- Manage sourcing, development and close down of company's suppliers to ensure continual value for money.
- Maintain and manage procurement archives.
- Assist the Engineering team in various tasks such as schedule coordination, travel arrangements etc.
- Assist and support departmental managers with budget tracking, control and planning; maintain departmental reference documents.
- Assist with stock and inventory management.
- Critical Spares stock and inventory ordering, control and management.
- Assist and support all filing operations, including archiving of technical and business administration documentation according to company requirements and control of technical library (seminar, conference material, articles).
- Prepare monthly and other requested reports, presentations and other documentation as requested using MS Office.
- Diary management and general office administration.
- Plan and organize technical and management meetings and write meeting minutes, distribute and archive.
- Organize and coordinate shipment and delivery including packing preparation, testing and sample ordering.
- Assist with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) in the administration of yearly certificates of passenger vessels and interim audits.
- Flexibility to work at other locations.
- Procurement for additional departments as required under Engineering Director's approval.
- Assistance with any ad hoc tasks as requested by the Fleet Engineering Director or Engineering team.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Relevant technical or commercial education to a degree level or professional equivalent with min 3 years of experience – Preferred.
- Knowledge and experience of general technical and/or marine engineering environment – Preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in technical procurement roles.
- Prior work experience in a similar field would be an advantage.
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
