Support Independence. Build Confidence. Make a Real Impact.
We are CCH. With 14,000 colleagues across 32 care companies, we have one purpose: to make sure no one in need of care is ever forgotten or left behind. We are not only changing lives, we are transforming the care sector. Our people-first approach puts care professionals at the centre of everything we do. Our goal is simple: to be the best place to work in care.
At Care By Us, part of CCH, we live by our values of Community, Courage, and Heart. We are looking for compassionate, reliable people to join our Welham Green Reablement team as Care Assistants to help us drive this mission forward.
What exactly is Reablement? Unlike traditional care where you might do things for a client, reablement is all about doing things with them. It is a specialized, short-term, intensive service (typically lasting up to 6 weeks) designed to help individuals recover and relearn daily skills usually after a hospital stay, a fall, or a period of illness. Instead of simply making their cup of tea, you will encourage and physically support them to make it themselves, gradually stepping back as their strength and confidence grow. It is highly goal-oriented. You will track their progress, celebrate their daily milestones, and ultimately cheer them on as they regain the ability to live safely and independently without the need for long-term care!
As part of our Welham Green Reablement team, you will be supporting clients across the following areas:
- Dacorum District: Hemel Hempstead, Tring, Berkhamsted, and surrounding villages.
- Hertford & Ware: SG12, SG13, SG14
- Sawbridgeworth & Surrounds: CM21, CM22
Pay Rates & Mileage: We believe great work deserves great pay. You will be paid per shift at the following rates:
- Weekdays (Mon-Fri): £14.70 per hour
- Saturdays: £16.50 per hour
- Sundays: £16.50 per hour
- Mileage allowance: 30p per mile paid for your travel.
Guaranteed hours available for the right candidates giving you the security of regular work.
Shift Patterns: We offer shifts 7 days a week to fit your lifestyle:
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM
- Evening Shift: 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM
What You’ll Be Doing: As a Reablement Care Assistant, your daily visits will focus on empowering your clients:
- Rebuilding Confidence: patiently encouraging clients to try tasks themselves.
- Mobility & Physiotherapy Support: assisting with transfers, walking, and exercises prescribed by occupational therapists.
- Nutrition & Mealtimes: supporting them to safely prepare their own meals and drinks.
- Medication Management: prompting and guiding them to manage their own medication safely.
- Housekeeping Skills: helping them relearn how to manage light cleaning and laundry.
- Health Monitoring: closely observing progress and reporting improvements or setbacks.
- Social Inclusion: helping them regain the confidence to step back into their community.
- Documentation: logging specific milestones to track their journey to independence.
What You’ll Need: Ideally, you’ll have at least 6 months of social care experience to join our merry band of care crusaders! But what matters most to us is your heart of gold and your ability to sprinkle kindness wherever you go. You’ll need to be as resilient as a rubber band and as eager to learn as a curious kitten. Don’t worry we’ll help you level up your skills and knowledge as part of our close-knit team.
While experience is a bonus, we’re really looking for people who:
- Driver Essential: A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is strictly required for travel between clients.
- Have compassion oozing from every pore.
- Can communicate effectively.
- Possess problem-solving skills.
- Are committed to respectful, high-quality care.
- Have the right to work within the UK.
What You’ll Receive: Here is what makes being part of our team truly special:
- Guaranteed hours available for the right candidates.
- Group Recognition Programmes: Be celebrated for your hard work with our internal 'Care Heroes' awards and long-service recognition!
- Fully funded NVQs/Diplomas in Health & Social Care.
