Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Trade Credit Underwriter role based in the City of London. The Trade Credit Underwriter will assess the creditworthiness of companies, analyze financial statements, and evaluate country, sector, and buyer risks to support underwriting decisions. Daily responsibilities include reviewing new and renewal submissions, structuring policy terms and conditions, preparing pricing recommendations, and drafting clear underwriting documentation. The role involves close collaboration with brokers and internal stakeholders to negotiate terms, respond to inquiries, and provide market insights. The Trade Credit Underwriter will also monitor portfolio performance, track exposure, support claims teams with underwriting input, and contribute to product development and underwriting guidelines.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating financial statements, credit risk, and market data.
- Knowledge of trade credit insurance, reinsurance, or related commercial insurance lines.
- Ability to communicate complex underwriting decisions clearly in writing and verbally to brokers and clients.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, data analysis tools, and underwriting systems.
- Attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to balance risk and commercial considerations.
- Collaborative working style and ability to build effective relationships with internal and external partners.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Professional qualifications such as ACII or progress toward insurance designations are beneficial.
- Experience working in an international or multi-jurisdictional insurance environment is an advantage.
