Role Description

The Health & Social Care Lecturer will design, deliver, and assess engaging lessons across a range of Health and Social Care modules, ensuring alignment with curriculum requirements and quality standards.

Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing teaching materials, delivering lectures, seminars, and workshops, providing academic guidance and pastoral support to learners, and maintaining accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievement.

The Lecturer will collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative teaching strategies, contribute to course development and review, and participate in quality assurance activities.

The role also involves, from time to time, liaising with external partners and placement providers to enhance learners’ practical experience and employability.

This is a full-time hybrid role based in Coventry, with a blend of on-campus teaching and some work-from-home for preparation, marking, and administrative duties.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication and the ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learner needs.
  • Candidates should possess Customer Service and learner support skills, demonstrating responsiveness, empathy, and professionalism in supporting students and working with stakeholders.
  • Candidates should possess knowledge and experience in Occupational Health and Medicine, or related health disciplines, to support accurate and up-to-date teaching in Health & Social Care topics.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Health Promotion, including understanding of public health principles, community health initiatives, and strategies to encourage healthy behaviors.
  • Relevant academic qualification in Health & Social Care, Nursing, Social Work, Public Health, or a closely related field (degree-level or above), with a teaching qualification (e. g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or willingness to work towards one).
  • Experience teaching or training in Health & Social Care or a related area, preferably in Higher Education, and familiarity with current sector standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to design inclusive learning materials, support diverse cohorts, use digital learning tools, and contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement.
