Hours:
- Monday – Friday, 13:45 – 22:00
- 1 in every 4 Saturdays, 08:00 – 17:00 (with a Friday off in lieu)
- 30-minute unpaid break
Job Type: Temp to Perm / Ongoing
We are recruiting for a PM Quality Control Operative to join a busy food manufacturing environment. This role is hands-on and based primarily on the factory floor, working across chilled and occasional freezer areas. Full PPE is provided.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Completing start-up checks in all departments
- Calibration of scales, probes, gas analysers, metal detectors, cooker, etc.
- Swabbing, ATP testing, allergen checks and lab work
- Preparing samples for lab testing
- Completing paperwork checks
- Carrying out product quality checks
- Creating and checking labels; maintaining label stock
- Carrying out stock checks
- Data logger creation and reporting
- Supporting internal and external audits
- Taking meeting minutes
- Assisting with product specifications and nutritional information
- Fridge and freezer temperature checks
- Maintaining and replenishing quality paperwork
- Ensuring all staff adhere to Food Safety, Health & Safety and BRC procedures
Working Environment:
- Approximately 85–90% of time spent inside the factory
- Handling raw and cooked chicken
- Chilled working conditions, with occasional freezer access
- Full PPE required at all times (hair nets, beard snoods, steel toe caps, overalls)
- No jewellery, nail polish or piercings permitted due to food safety regulations
Facilities:
- On-site canteen with kettle, microwave and toaster
- Staff must bring their own lunch (no food available for purchase on site; nearest shops approx. 15-minute drive)
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous QC or food manufacturing experience is desirable
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow strict food safety and compliance procedures
- Comfortable working in chilled environments
- Reliable, organised and confident communicating with all departments
