The Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading aerospace manufacturing organisation for an experienced CAD Designer to join their Design Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a highly regulated, safety‑critical environment supporting both new product introduction (NPI) and legacy design improvements. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented CAD professional with strong CATIA V5 experience, looking to contribute to innovative aerospace projects while working collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and develop detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D technical drawings using CATIA V5
- Support design and development activities for aerospace products and systems
- Manage and implement Document Change Notes (DCNs), including updates to legacy designs
- Work closely with Design Engineers to ensure CAD outputs meet technical specifications and programme requirements
- Produce fully detailed drawings compliant with aerospace standards, company procedures, and configuration control requirements
- Participate in design reviews and respond to engineering change requests
- Resolve CAD‑related issues and provide technical support to internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality and procurement teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
- Ensure all drawings and models are correctly released through document control systems
- Maintain high levels of accuracy, quality and data integrity while meeting project deadlines
About You
- Strong experience using CATIA V5 (Part Design, Assembly Design, Drafting)
- Proven background producing 2D and 3D CAD designs within a regulated environment
- Solid understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T and controlled design processes
- High attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within engineering teams
Desirable Experience
- Experience managing engineering changes / DCNs
- Background working with metallic components
- Exposure to rubber mouldings or vacuum forming processes
- Experience supporting NPI programmes from concept through to production
- Previous experience within aerospace, aviation or similar highly regulated industries
