We are a Charity, providing great quality, nutritious meals to children in schools throughout Southampton. We want to hear from enthusiastic people who really want to make a difference to the lunchtime experience of every child.
You would be working during all term times, Monday to Friday, and the role is subject to your eligibility to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS check. The base location for this Mobile Assistant Cook Role is Shirley Warren but you will be covering the areas of Shirley and Central Soton for 20 hours per week – 39 weeks per year in line with the school term times. The hourly rate is £12.69 per hour.
A driving license and access to your own vehicle is essential to this role, as is the confidence and flexibility to travel to different/new areas frequently.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting the Head of Kitchen in the preparation, cooking and service of food to the children at lunchtimes, as well as for any special functions.
- Running the unit in the absence of a Head of Kitchen.
You’ll need to have solid experience for this kind of role in both service and food preparation and cooking. You’ll also need to have at least a Level 2 certificate in food safety and some understanding of allergen foods. Training is given on site, but ideally we need a self-starter who can get stuck in, so preference for interviews will be given to those that have very similar experience. An existing valid Enhanced DBS is also very desirable.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants are required to undergo an enhanced DBS check, the cost of which is covered by the Charity if you pass probation.
