We are looking for a number of dedicated and compassionate Children and Young People’s Coaches (Full Time) to join our new residential provision. At City Care Southwest, we believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to live independently in a happy, healthy and nurturing environment - one where they feel safe, valued, protected and empowered to grow into the best versions of themselves.

Our mission is to provide care that supports children and young people to overcome challenges, build resilience, and thrive both now and in the future, within a framework of strong safeguarding, stability and trust. Working within a warm, homely residential setting, you will play a central role in supporting, coaching and guiding children and young people aged 5-17. You will help them to attend school regularly, participate in positive activities, develop essential life skills, and build trusting relationships. This includes offering emotional support, helping them navigate day-to-day routines, and encouraging independence in a safe, structured and secure way. Safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people will be at the heart of everything you do.

You will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining a safe, protective and nurturing environment
  • Recognising signs of risk, harm or vulnerability
  • Following safeguarding procedures and reporting concerns appropriately
  • Promoting children’s rights, dignity and voice
  • Supporting young people to feel listened to, believed and protected

You will work in line with safeguarding policies, care standards and statutory guidance, ensuring that every child feels safe, respected and secure within the home. Your role will involve implementing personalised care plans, promoting positive behaviour, and working collaboratively with external professionals such as teachers, social workers, and healthcare providers. You will also take part in household tasks, contribute to planning engaging activities, and help create a warm and stable environment where each young person can truly feel at home.

Based in the heart of Plymouth, our home benefits from easy access to the city’s schools, leisure centres, parks and community resources. This allows you to provide enriching opportunities that support each child’s social, emotional and educational development. You will be empowered to offer positive, engaging and child-centred support that truly makes a difference.

We are looking for energetic, enthusiastic and caring individuals who are passionate about making a difference and committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. No two days will be the same - you might be leading activities or outings one day, teaching household and life skills the next, or accompanying young people to appointments and helping them maintain important family connections. Every day brings the chance to contribute to meaningful progress, celebrate achievements - big and small - and help shape brighter futures.

In this role, you’ll benefit from strong management support and the chance to be part of a close-knit team with a genuine family feel - a place where you are valued, supported and recognised for the positive impact you make every day. City Care Southwest is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments will be subject to enhanced DBS checks, safer recruitment processes, and ongoing safeguarding training.
