The Company


Our client has been operating as a development & bridging lender for a decade and provide property developers and investors with access to debt for key real estate development and investment projects.


Deal sizes range from c£250k - £7.5m to cover land, ground-up development, bridging finance and heavy refurb.


Our client has strong backing in terms of investment & funding & are actively seeking to grow their loan book. This BDM hire is part of a broader business expansion which will also see their operations team grow and swell to support increased activity.

Role Overview


As BDM your primary objective will be to achieve agreed lending targets for your region, which play a big role in the company's wider growth objectives. This region will cover the South West and Midlands patches of the UK.


You will work from a home base to strategically manage your own diary of appointments and events where you will liaise with brokers, borrowers & introducers to identify and onboard the ideal lending opportunities to meet appetite.


Once onboarded, you will be ably supported by our clients in house team of credit managers and underwriters who will assist with deal structure, assessment and loan completions. Throughout each loan application cycle you will act as the key point of contact for all stakeholders to ensure loans are paid out in line with SLA’s and borrower requirements.


Responsibilities


• Devise & execute your regional strategy to achieve agreed regional lending objectives

• Build and maintain strong introducer, broker and borrower relationships

• Identify & onboard loan enquiries that meet the appetite of the business

• Work with credit to structure and assess lending opportunities and pipeline

• Attend industry forums and events as a key face of the business

• Achieve agreed lending and revenue objectives


Candidate Requirements


The ideal individual for this role will be an experienced BDM with experience in the property finance or mortgage markets. Individuals with bridging or development finance experience would be preferred.


You will need to be proactive in approach, have a good understanding of what ‘makes a good deal’ and be confident in your ability to build, maintain and grow broker and borrower relationships.


• Strong experience in property finance/mortgage lending – ideally short-term finance

• Proven track record of achieving lending or sales targets in a similar environment

• Confident in ‘what a good deal looks like’ and capable of developing credit papers

• A good knowledge of the credit/risk principles that underpin quality lending

• Excellent communicator and negotiator – collaborative in approach

• Strong commercial awareness and relationship-building ability

• Comfortable working in a field-based origination role

• Motivated by growth, visibility and long-term progression

• Confident in achieving lending and sales targets


On Offer


The role offers a basic package of up to circa £70/£75k, relevant to experience. Higher offers may also be considered for exceptional talent and potential.


In addition, there is a competitive and lucrative commission structure designed to reward successful originators based on completed lending. This gives the successful candidate a clear opportunity to increase annual earnings through consistent deal flow, strong broker relationships and the successful conversion of new lending opportunities.
