Rigger

City Calling is recruiting a Rigger / Slinger for a leading specialist lifting and plant company. Our client is looking for an experienced and reliable Rigger / Slinger to join their Plant Division. The role will focus primarily on ground-based rigging, moving, positioning and securing plant and heavy equipment, working as part of a team to ensure equipment is handled safely and efficiently. The role • Rigging, moving, positioning and securing heavy plant, machinery and equipment • Selecting and safely using slings, chains, shackles and other lifting accessories • Assisting with the loading and unloading of plant and equipment • Assisting with the installation, dismantling and relocation of machinery • Using equipment such as jacks, skates, winches and tirfors where required • Guiding and manoeuvring plant safely into position, particularly in restricted areas • Carrying out pre-use checks of lifting accessories and reporting any defects • Ensuring loads are correctly secured and stable before and during movement • Working closely with plant operators, supervisors and other site personnel • Following RAMS, lifting plans and site-specific safety procedures • Maintaining a clean and safe working area • Carrying out general ground-based rigging and mechanical handling duties as required What you’ll need • Previous experience as a Rigger, Slinger or within plant/lifting operations • Experience handling and moving heavy plant, machinery or equipment • Good knowledge of slings, chains, shackles and other lifting accessories • Understanding of safe lifting, rigging and load-security procedures • Ability to follow RAMS, lifting plans and site instructions • Good awareness of health and safety requirements • Full PPE • Reliable, physically fit and comfortable working outdoors • Excellent communication and teamwork skills Nice to have • CPCS or NPORS qualifications • Slinger/Signaller qualification • CSCS card • Banksman/Traffic Marshall qualification • Experience within a plant hire, heavy lifting or mechanical handling environment • Experience using winches, skates, jacks or tirfors What we offer • Ongoing work with a leading specialist lifting and plant company • Weekly pay • Opportunities for continued work on a variety of projects • The opportunity to work within an experienced Plant Division team • Access to City Calling's wider portfolio of construction and engineering clients Apply now — send your CV and relevant qualifications to City Calling, or call the team for a chat.
