About the Role

The Assurance and Audit Advisor role is a key member of the Finance Team within City Building. Working alongside the External Reporting and Compliance Lead, you will be part of an integrated and professional finance team, delivering the highest level of financial management consistent with the business objectives. You will be responsible for the delivery of the in-house assurance and stock audit function to the Extended Management Team and operational managers within City Building, deputising for the External Reporting and Compliance Lead as required. This team is key for the delivery of the audit and assurance function which has responsibility for undertaking process reviews with a view to gaining assurances for a range of measures including governance, effectiveness and efficiency.

As the Assurance and Audit Advisor you will lead the audit and assurance function, manage reviews of financial and operational processes to assure governance, identify process risks, develop audit and assurance plans, manage the stock audit function for the stores service, and manage the production of stock performance reports. You will assist the External Reporting and Compliance Lead to plan and deliver internal and external audit arrangements to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and strong financial governance.

What You Will Bring

The Assurance and Audit Advisor will have expert knowledge of financial and accounting procedures and will be experienced working in a Finance Audit function within a complex business environment. You will have excellent analytical and judgemental skills to deal with highly complex facts or situations, which require the analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options. You will be an effective communicator with the ability to provide financial information and advice at the appropriate level. You will also lead professionally in key audit and assurance meetings. The post requires excellent relationship skills to enable highly complex information to be shared and a course of action to be agreed amongst key stakeholders. The post holder will motivate and manage the team by providing clear direction, manage workloads effectively, ensure the team has the necessary resources and training required. You will also monitor team performance effectively. A degree or equivalent level qualification relation to Finance/Audit and membership of a CCAB professional body or a full member of the CIIA or overseas equivalent is essential for this role.
